My greatest idea ever, which came to me walking to class this morning.  Facebook for your pet.  What middle aged housewife isn't looking to live vicariously through every means available.  Make a profile for you pet, add friends, status update, the whole nine yards.  Best of all, shelters and adoption centers can use it too as a network for adoption.  Brilliant.  I post the idea here knowing that almost no one reads this, thus keeping my idea safe.

iPhone vs. Any other smartphone..

Let's think about this.. When the iPod came out. People couldn't see the value in the device. Fast forward ten years. When's the last time you bought a CD?  A single line of devices completely transformed a billion dollar industry.  MP3 coding may have been the catalyst but the iPod was the fire that did it.  Now let's look at smartphones.  Before the iPhone, one out of ten phones at your local cellular store was a smartphone.  Post iPhone, it's difficult to find a new phone without a qwerty keypad, full web, and a data plan. 

Point being..

Apple started the trend, and people don't start trends and maintain them because they are lucky.  They do it because they are better...  Have some people made devices that edge out the iPhone in certain categories? ..maybe (a whole separate debate,  hint: if you think a 12 megapixel camera is better than a 5 you're not adequately prepared for an informed debate) There's been tons of MP3 players churned out in the last decade that have undoubtedly been placed beside iPods in magazine articles and declared winners; but, there's a reason why 99 out of 100 people walking to the gym right now listening to music are doing so with an iPod.  The same reason applies to why the iPhone is and will be the primary smartphone for a long time..
